HyVee has cooking classes on Friday nights. Arlyce and Jim Lillegaard have attended a couple of these and Lee and I tried one last Friday night. The food is fabulous, the instruction entertaining and the price is reasonable.

HyVee is willing to hold a special class just for us on Saturday March 14.

Here is what Arlyce wrote up for us concerning their experience and the upcoming class in March:

March 14A Cooking Class and quite a bit more…a 4 course meal with wine at HyVee on Minnesota!

Several club members have attended some of the menu training activities and have been surprised and impressed with what HyVee does. A grocery store with this approach is kind of unexpected. They use a variety of the top chefs in town for the food preparation and training and serve a variety of wines. The location is a room on the second floor with cooking readily visible, lots of windows, and even white table cloths; clothes are casual and so is conversation. Participation is encouraged.

The menu for the Porsche Club will be four courses prepared by Jason Riedel.

He manages this activity for the HyVee on Minnesota and is a professional chef who trained for about two years at the Cordon Bleu training center in the Twin Cities and spent a couple years as a chef at Minerva's. He's very entertaining and gives ingredients and instructions as he prepares the food.

The four courses will include a vegetable appetizer with fresh bread and baking techniques, cioppino (fisherman’s stew), an entrée of the day and a chocolate dessert. Wine will be served.

The room in Minnesota HyVee will be set up and open at 6:00PM and the training and final food preparation will begin promptly at 6:30; anyone who can’t make it by then will miss part of it. It will end about 8:30 and the room continues to be available for a while after that. Since this is customized and requires advance planning, a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 30 people need to sign up by March 9. Total cost is $25.00 per person and should be paid in advance to the Dakota Region Porsche Club. Past attendance says it’s good food, good learning, and good fun!

Please RSVP to Kathy at jkl.lunde@sio.midco.net or 605-334-9808. We need to know ASAP if you are able to attend! Please make your checks payable to Dakota Region Porsche Club and send them to John Forrette at 3028 S Amanda Court, Sioux Falls, SD 57103. We hope we will have good attendance as we try something new!
